An Erzgebirge bakery, patisserie and café based in Grünhainichen: Baumkuchen, sourdough breads, Saxon specialities and award-winning Christmas Stollen delivered to your door.
„A local bakery run with heart and dedication."
The people
Two generations of the Vieweger family
In 1976, master baker Friedrich Vieweger and his wife Ruth, a trained confectioner, bought an old commercial property in Grünhainichen and converted it into a bakery, patisserie and shop, opening on 1 March 1977. Their son Steffen trained as a pastry chef, worked as a commis pâtissier in a four-star hotel in St. Moritz, and qualified as a master confectioner in 2000. In 2007, his father handed the reins over to him. Today, 13 staff members bake together every day — including journeymen, an apprentice, a confectioner and shop assistants.
The product
Baumkuchen, Stollen and Saxon specialities
The bakery is renowned for its Baumkuchen and chocolate-dipped Baumkuchen bites, alongside sourdough loaves, part-baked breads and bread rolls, barbecue breads, bread crisps, weekend traybakes, buttercream gateaux and regional Saxon specialities. During the festive season, everything revolves around traditional Erzgebirge Stollen — available dusted or plain, and recognised with multiple awards. More than 3,800 customer reviews speak for the craft behind every bake.
The place
Grünhainichen in the Erzgebirge, right beside Wendt & Kühn
The main shop and café is located in Grünhainichen right next door to the Wendt & Kühn workshops, alongside a branch in Chemnitz-Gablenz. Orders are dispatched across Germany via DHL — with free delivery on orders over €50, and chilled packaging for delicate items. And because community care starts at home, the team has already donated over 100 Erzgebirge Stollen to the Diakonie and DRK.
