Bücherwaage

Bad Düben, Deutschland

An antiquarian bookshop and handicrafts from Bad Düben: since 2009, Ines Rum-Mönicke has combined her love of books with her own knitting and sewing – from reading pillows to children’s jackets.

„“I am a book fanatic and crazy about handicrafts.”"

The people

A book fanatic with knitting needles

Ines Rum-Mönicke runs the Bücherwaage in Bad Düben. Since 2009 she has kept a small antiquarian bookshop there – over time her handicrafts were added. Today the shop combines both: books and handmade goods. If you miss a particular size or colour, you can write to her – as time allows, she also makes items to order.

The product

From reading pillows to children’s jackets

The range includes knitted and sewn one-offs: reading pillows and “Beutelhuhn” chickens for bookworms, jackets, gloves and hats in small sizes, plus decorations and kitchen helpers. The antiquarian books are sold via her booklooker page.

The place

A small shop in Bad Düben

The Bücherwaage is located at Bitterfelder Straße 5 in Bad Düben, between Leipzig and Wittenberg. Anyone who wants to see, feel and smell the goods is welcome in the shop – open Monday to Thursday, on Tuesdays into the evening. Products can be reserved on request.
