Owner Nora Guevara Chaves connects her Costa Rican roots with the Black Forest through El Purica. The family roastery buys directly from coffee farmers and cooperatives in Costa Rica and introduces these partners by name on its own website.
The range includes single-origin coffees such as Caturra Yellow Honey and Obatá Natural alongside blends like the Freiburger Münster Kaffee and Espresso Moderno. For caffeine-free enjoyment there is "No Coffee", roasted from regional sweet lupins grown on an organic farm at Lake Constance.
The roastery sits at In den Langmatten 10 in Pfaffenweiler, a wine village south of Freiburg on the edge of the Black Forest. Visiting in person is part of the concept.
