A small coffee roastery from Bad Kötzting in the Bavarian Forest: since 2015 they have roasted mostly single-origin coffees and house blends in a classic drum roaster – transparent about origin, fairly sourced and simply good in the cup.
„Simply proper coffee – roasted in Bad Kötzting since 2015."
The people
The people
It all started in 2015 with a frustration: founder Matthias Wutz was tired of only finding mediocre coffee in his area – and there was no roastery anywhere nearby. So he took matters into his own hands, taught himself to roast and soon opened his roastery on Ludwigstraße. The shop on Herrenstraße followed in 2017, and today a small team of coffee lovers handles everything from green bean selection to the cup they pour.

The product
Green coffees are chosen in direct exchange with producers, befriended small importers and on origin trips. Roasting happens in a classic drum roaster – mostly single origin, plus house classics such as siebn.gscheid, gscheid.guad and the punchy Fuxspresso. The aim is always the same balance: dark enough for sweetness and body, light enough to keep the origin's natural aromas. Tasting bundles, coffee chocolate, coffee liqueur and brewing gear round things off.

Bad Kötzting in the Bavarian Forest will probably never be a hip coffee city – and that is exactly the point. The roastery makes proper coffee for everyone: for meticulous coffee nerds as much as for people who simply pour beans into their machine. The shop at Herrenstraße 10 doubles as a coffee bar where you can taste your way through the range. #freshcoffeefromthebavarianforest
