Heads in Hamburg, hearts in Finland."

KaisuMari
The people

Three women, two homelands

Kaisu came from northern Finland to Germany in the 1970s and founded a small shop in 1996 to show her neighbours and friends the design of her home country. Today she works alongside her twin daughters Ulla and Sandra — a family-run studio bringing Finnish feeling into German homes.

The product

Soulbirds as spirit animals

The soulbirds are signed art prints on birch wood, handmade in Hamburg. They follow the old Finnish idea of the soul bird and carry names such as Saima (the smiling sun) or Unelma (dream). Alongside them come mini posters and postcards printed on uncoated, certified 300g paper.

The place

Nordic nature and sisu

Bright light, ice-polished rocks, endless forests: the designs are inspired by the wild Nordic nature the family grew to love as children in Finland. And they are meant to strengthen sisu — the Finnish life force that carries you through challenging times.
