The people

From the vineyard to the cellar

Led by managing director Jörg Erdmann, the entire team contributes its experience at every stage. From tending the slopes and the craft of vinification in the cellar to sales, everyone plays their part. This work builds on the heritage of the Cistercian monks who began shaping the cultural landscape around Kloster Pforta in 1138. Today, the team carries this long winemaking tradition forward with its own distinct character and dedication.

The product

Single-vineyard wines and historic grape varieties

The range includes thoughtfully crafted wines and sparkling wines that reflect the character of their soils. Alongside classics such as Riesling, Weißburgunder, Zweigelt and Spätburgunder, the winery also tends rare local varieties such as Blauer Silvaner and Weißer Elbling. Through careful vinification, dry single-vineyard wines with a clear sense of place are created, complemented by curated wine sets.

The place

Vineyard slopes along the Saale

The winery is based in Bad Kösen near Naumburg, in the historic Saale-Unstrut wine region. Grapes ripen on storied sites such as the Saalhäuser on shell limestone and the sandstone terraces of the Gosecker Dechantenberg. On the Pfortenser Köppelberg, vines have grown since the 12th century. The interplay of these soils and the Saale valley climate shapes the distinct wines of this landscape.
